About
The virginia association of fund raising executives (VAFRE) is a 250 member non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the professional skills of fundraisers across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Our Story
Established in 1980 by a small group of development professionals, the organization thrives as the premier gathering place for beginning, intermediate, and advanced fundraisers from across the Commonwealth of Virginia. With a focus on educational and networking opportunities in a open and welcoming environment VAFRE serves as the premier gathering place for development professionals in the area.
Programs occur monthly starting in September with meetings at Jefferson-Lakeside Country Club in Richmond. Hands-on workshops occur during the year, and during the summers a Summer Brown Bag series is offered. In April, the VAFRE Spring Social takes place and the winners of our Nina Abady and Rising Star Awards are recognized.
