We will take a deep dive into the facts and issues surrounding donor advised funds. What are the benefits and drawbacks for donors and for nonprofits? How should nonprofits acknowledge and solicit donor advisors? Do donor advised funds somehow enable donors to hoard funds while benefiting from tax deductions?

Our Speaker

Our speaker, Bobby Thalhimer, is a Senior Consultant with The Monument Group, which he joined in 2015. Previously he served as Senior Vice President for Philanthropic Services at The Community Foundation, as Executive Director of the Science Museum of Virginia Foundation, and as Deputy Director of the Science Museum of Virginia. Bobby has broad experience on nonprofit boards, beginning with serving as President of the William B. Thalhimer, Jr. & Family Foundation, which is now a fund of The Community Foundation with a third generation board of advisors. He also served as President of the Richmond Memorial Hospital Foundation and as a member of the Richmond Memorial Hospital Board of Directors. He currently serves as Chair of the Finance Committee of their successor, the Richmond Memorial Health Foundation and serves on the Board of Impact Makers, a B Corporation providing consulting services to businesses and government with a specific focus on the health care industry.
