Make plans to join VAFRE for our February 1st half-day workshop, Communication is the Ask, scheduled for UR’s Jepson Alumni Center and featuring author and speaker Penelope Burk. This workshop is sponsored in part by the University of Richmond.
Take advantage of special cost savings for the workshop by registering more than one person from your organization. This invaluable program will benefit all members of your development team, both volunteer and staff. Don’t come alone!
In a world where your donors are bombarded with everyone else’s information, how can you grab their attention and be confident that they are hearing your message? Communication is the Ask, offers practical advice on how to connect more effectively with donors in an age of information overload. Developed from Penelope Burk’s groundbreaking research on the causes of and remedies for high donor attrition, this session explains what donors need to know and explores how not for profits can become masters of their own messages. Delegates will experience an energetic program that leads them through a hands-on, creative experience on selecting, shaping and delivering information to secure and sustain a competitive edge in the fundraising marketplace.
Our Speaker: Author, trainer and President of Cygnus Applied Research, Inc., Penelope Burk has over 30 years’ experience in not for profit management, fundraising, marketing and research. A native of Montreal, Canada, her in-depth and varied career established her as a senior professional advocating innovative approaches to fundraising and marketing.
Penelope’s leading edge research in donor communication resulted in the publication of Donor-Centred Fundraising, in 2003. The book is the only statistically based research ever published on the effect of meaningful communication on donor retention and gift value. She has also written over forty seminars for not for profit organizations and her new book, Donor-Centered Leadership, will be released in the Summer of 2011.
