Top Priorities for a Small Development Shop
A small development shop demands that you prioritize to maximize results. Lisa Freeman and Judy Lankford will give you practical tools you need and help you focus for success, whether you’re a development officer, CEO or fundraising volunteer.

Running a Successful Volunteer Program
Volunteers become engaged for many reasons – some would say in search of a variety of rewards: a passion for your project, a chance to “give back,” a way to meet people, an opportunity to use or enhance their talents, or simply to make a difference. Organizations seek volunteer help to achieve their goals that might otherwise be beyond reach. This workshop explores ways to build into your volunteer program the kinds of opportunities that attract and retain volunteers by matching the specific opportunity to both the volunteer’s and your own needs.

Development Professionals and the New IRS Form 990
Charities and their fundraisers must confront several reporting and disclosure issues on the newly expanded annual information return, IRS Form 990. This session will highlight fundraising and corporate governance considerations in the new form and offer practical suggestions for how to  report prior transactions and what policies and procedures may make future reporting easier and more accurate.

Crafting a Marketing Plan with Impact
Crafting a marketing plan is sometimes like creating artwork on the beach. Have you accounted for the tide? Have you accounted for the beach combers? Have you accounted for the rain, the wind and other unexpected (and expected) events? If you want to have any impact at all you have to consider and plan for those things over which you have very little control, and that’s what we are going to talk about in this session. A marketing plan outline will be provided, definitions will be clarified, and we’ll have plenty of conversation.
