Virginia Association of Fundraising Executives

The majority of the work of VAFRE is carried out by our standing committees. VAFRE members have the opportunity to work on a committee which interests them.  Each committee is led by a Chair and Vice-chair, who are part of VAFRE’s Board of Directors.

  • Awards Committee:  The Awards Committee plans, organizes, and executes the annual Nina Abady and Rising Star Awards Program and luncheon that honors the award recipients.  
  • Communications Committee:  The Communications Committee is responsible for engaging VAFRE members as well as increasing the community’s awareness of VAFRE by promoting VAFRE’s resources and events, through the use of print, broadcast, electronic, and social media.
  • Membership Committee:  The Membership Committee focuses on the recruitment and retention of VAFRE members through member engagement events, member benefit programs, and communication pieces.
  • Programs Committee:  The Program Committee plans, organizes, and executes VAFRE educational programming throughout the year. 

Committee meetings vary in frequency, location and time of day.  On average committees meet monthly at a location within the City of Richmond or a nearby vicinity.
