September 13 Workshop: Mission-Based Management

On September 13, VAFRE will welcome well-known speaker Peter Brinckerhoff for his half day workshop: Mission-Based Managment: Leading Your Not-for-Profit in the 21st Century.

This fast-paced morning is based on Peter Brinckerhoff’s award winning book Mission-Based Management (3rd edition).  Peter will cover all the key elements of successful not-for-profit organizations found in his award-winning book, giving participants insight into how top-quality not-for-profits are really run. Discover what works, what doesn’t, and how to ensure that your organization is one of the ones that works. Topics include: Mission Statements, Building Better Boards, Staff Management, The Wired Not-for-Profit, Mission-Based Marketing, Financial Empowerment, Planning, and Social Entrepreneurship. Come spend a morning with one of the most innovative and entertaining thinkers in the not-for-profit sector!

This program qualifies for 3.5 hours of CFRE continuing education points (applied for).

Our Speaker: 
Peter Brinckerhoff is an internationally renowned trainer, author, and consultant to not-for-profit organizations. He brings years of experience in the field to his work, as he is a former board member of local, state, and national not-for-profits, and has worked on the staff and as executive director of two regional not-for-profits. Since founding his consulting firm Corporate Alternatives, in 1982, Brinckerhoff has helped thousands of organizations become more mission-capable. He is the author of the highly acclaimed and award-winning books, Mission-Based Management (Third Edition), Financial Empowerment, Mission-Based Marketing (Third Edition), Faith-Based Management, Social Entrepreneurship, Nonprofit Stewardship, and Generations, The Challenge of a Lifetime for Your Nonprofit. In 2007 Generations was awarded The Terry McAdam award for “Best Nonprofit Book” by the Alliance for Nonprofit Management. It was the third time Brinckerhoff has won this prestigious award. Peter’s newest release is the third edition of Mission-Based Marketing. Raised in Connecticut, he and his family lived in Springfield, IL from 1977-2007. Brinckerhoff and his wife now live in Union Hall, VA.
