Mark your calendars for this year’s VAFRE meetings! The Board of Directors of VAFRE has confirmed the following meeting dates for 2008-2009:

• September 9, 2008, Nonprofit Boards and Leadership, Chuck V. Loring, CFRE, MBA, Board Source, University of Richmond Jepson Alumni Center. This special workshop will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Our speaker, Chuck Loring is a senior governance consultant for BoardSource, providing governance consulting and training to clients, with a particular expertise in the Board’s role in fundraising. He is also the senior partner of Fort Lauderdale and Indianapolis-based Loring, Sternberg & Associates, which provides fundraising and governance consulting services to nonprofits. BoardSource is the premiere voice of nonprofit governance and is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations by strengthening their boards of directors. Its highly acclaimed programs and services mobilize boards so that organizations fulfill their missions, achieve their goals, increase their impact, and extend their influence. 
  The member fee for this program, which includes 4 hours of CFRE credit as well as lunch, will be $50.00. That’s less than $13.00 per credit! Members are also encouraged to bring their Board members with them. A discount is available for bringing multiple guests to the program: the first guest may register for $75.00; additional guests from the same company or Board of Directors may register for $65.00 each.

  Except as noted above, all meetings will be held at Jefferson Lakeside Country Club. Registration will begin at 11:30 with lunch at noon and the program following. Fees for regular meetings remain $18 for members and $25 for guests. Members who elect to prepay during the renewal process may purchase a Season Pass, which includes the fees for the September workshop, the April Awards Luncheon, all regular VAFRE lunches and the Mini-Masters sessions, for $205.00.
