VAFRE December 9 Meeting

Nov 09 posted by: vafre

Topic: Nonprofits as Leadership Labs

No doubt, nonprofits have a significant direct economic impact in Virginia.  But they also generate “spillover” effects.  Leadership studies scholars point to the influence of nonprofits in raising awareness, providing early indicators of a need (to be filled by for-profit, nonprofit or government), and developing leaders.  Nonprofits are key sources of innovation as local needs are recognized and then new goods and services are developed to meet these needs.  Those who work in nonprofits identify common needs.  More than this, they develop solutions.
