The VAFRE nominating committee is looking for a few good people who are committed to philanthropy and want to help VAFRE as we move forward into our next 30 years of service to the nonprofit community. Joining the Board of Directors for 2012-2013 is a very effective way to gain new experience that will not only help you, but will help others as well.
The board meets every other month prior to the membership luncheons for discussion and strategic decisions about VAFRE’s future and to act on recommendations from the working committees. Every board member serves on a committee, but most committee work is done electronically. While we all work hard, we also have a lot of fun together. Many of us have formed lifelong relationships with colleagues that we met while serving on the board or a committee.
You may nominate yourself or someone else. Diversity of age, experience levels, points of view, gender, racial and cultural backgrounds…just to name a few…are important to VAFRE’s work with the wide variety of nonprofit organizations our membership represents. Nominations are needed by March 19, 2012. Each nominee will receive a Candidate Interest Form that must be completed to be considered for a position by the Nominating Committee.
Eligibility and Term of Office: To be a director, you must be a member, in good standing. Each elected Director shall take office on July 1, 2012 for a two-year term and is responsible for, along with other Board members, determining VAFRE policies and supporting the mission of the organization. Time commitment includes an hour and a half board meeting the first Tuesday of every other month and the time needed to complete the tasks of your board role.
