Message from the President
Northstar Academy held its annual Talent Show a couple of weeks ago. It is such an amazing opportunity for our students of all ages to share their talents which might not be highlighted during the academic day. We had lots of enthusiastic participants and the gym was chock full of parents, grandparents, faculty, staff, and, of course, our students. The magical evening was a collage of performances - poetry readings, magic tricks, comedy, human google maps, dancing, hula hoops, chorus and one of our middle school students sang the Star-Spangled Banner (and, yes, she hit the high note!). All of us rose to our feet with hands over hearts – many even sang along! There was palpable energy, amped up excitement and kudos all around. Our students truly stepped out of their comfort zones and tried something different, and, in doing so, they bettered themselves, gained confidence and set the stage for their futures.
I believe that we spend much of our “academic” day working on projects, events and activities and we are always striving to hit deadlines and make goals. We work to showcase, steward and highlight our donors, potential donors and constituents. I challenge each of us to do something different this summer – take an art or cooking class, write a poem, join the choir at church, go skydiving? Let’s embrace that child we used to be, that child who would bravely go up on stage and showcase a talent. I believe we all have room to better ourselves, gain confidence, push ourselves out of our comfort zones and set the stage for whatever is in our futures!
See you at the Annual Meeting!
