Thank you all for a fantastic year! I am most grateful for the leadership of our board, the dedication of our committee members, the guidance our administrator and, of course, all of you - our wonderful VAFRE members - for your enthusiasm, inspiration and loyalty.
Thank you for making VAFRE shine!
All the best,
Strategic Plan Update
On Tuesday, June 5th, VAFRE held it's Annual Meeting. Participants were presented with a strategic plan update as we neared the conclusion of year-one of the three-year plan. President Lynne Berkness reminded us of the Vision and Mission of VAFRE and noted that the objectives of the strategic plan were:
Highlights of 2017-2018 Achievements
Correction to 2018-2019 Budget
The budget that was circulated to the membership and approved at the Annual Meeting June 5th inadvertently omitted some budget adjustments that the Board made during their May meeting. The budget as approved by the Board reflected a deficit of $3,893, a significant reduction in the $8,743 deficit approved by the membership. For a corrected copy of the budget, click here.
Professional Partnership Program Finishes Fifth Year, Opens Applications for Year Six
We'll wrap up year five of P3 with a celebration at Special Olympics of Virginia on June 26th, when this year’s group of 17 partners “graduate” to join the more than 30 other P3 alumni in the membership.
The purpose of each P3 group is to encourage discussion and comment on those job-related concerns of greatest interest to each group. Issues and topics for each session will be solicited in advance and facilitated by the Leaders. The program has been described as “the cheapest group therapy available” and each year one or more of the past participants find it valuable enough to sign up for the program again.
Applications are now being accepted for year six, which begins in the Fall. Registrations received prior to July 1 are eligible for a discounted registration of $50. From July 1st, the fee will be $75.
VAFRE sponsors VFRI World Cafe Sessions
Join VAFRE at the 27th Annual Virginia Fund Raising Institute July 17-19 at the Omni Richmond Hotel. On the 18th, VAFRE is sponsoring a series of three World Café sessions. Based on the understanding that conversation is the core process that drives personal, business, and organizational life, the World Café is more than a round-table – it’s a creative process for collaborative dialogue, sharing knowledge and creating possibilities for action in groups.
With over twenty-five breakout sessions and keynote presentations from Tom Ahern, Todd Gray, and a panel of leading voices in the nonprofit sector looking at key trends in philanthropy, this program is not to be missed. Find complete details and registration information on the VFRI website.
VAFRE members may register at the member rate of $280. The fee for nonmembers is $350.
