Message from the President
Some of you may not know and some of you do (I guess that’s 50/50, right?), improvisational comedy is a significant part of my life - as a performer, director, teacher and more. Over time the basic concepts of this craft became ingrained in my personal and professional values. Over the next year, as the VAFRE president, I hope to recognize and share these amazing concepts in VAFRE and with our members.
I am so very pleased to help carry the success of VAFRE forward, along with our board members and overall membership, in this new fiscal year. Yes, and we strive to offer preferred meaningful educational and networking events for, you, our members each year. Yes, and we will continue our efforts and focus on the priorities of our strategic plan - Education, Connection, Awareness, Collaboration and Advancement.
The tenet of yes, and is continuing the movement forward as well as adding to and elevating the momentum of an existing offer. Our board is doing this with our members in mind - always.
We thank each of you for completing our membership survey and allowing us to understand what we need to maintain, enhance, review and improve. Your responses help us move forward and align the direction and priorities of VAFRE with the goals and objectives of our membership. We look forward to offering several opportunities throughout the year - traditional and new. Here’s to a successful and awesome year!
Keep yes, and-ing, and we’ll see you at the Brown Bag session on August 7!
P.S. The deadline for P3 applications is September 15th. This is a valuable resource of our membership community; please consider being a part of it!
Applications for Year Six of Professional Partnership Program Being Accepted
The Professional Partnership Program (P3) offers VAFRE members an annual opportunity to develop more extensive professional skills and understanding through an optional self-supporting program. Small groups of about 6 - 8 people (the Partners) meet with 2 highly experienced professionals (the Leaders). Each group will meet a minimum of 4 times between October 1 and May 31. Most groups elect to meet monthly.
The purpose of each P3 group is to encourage discussion and comment on those job-related concerns of greatest interest to each group. Issues and topics for each session will be solicited in advance and facilitated by the Leaders. The program has been described as “the cheapest group therapy available” and each year one or more of the past participants find it valuable enough to sign up for the program again.
Applications are now being accepted for year six, which begins in the Fall. Registration is $75. Fees offset program expenses and do not benefit team leaders except for the reimbursement of expenses associated with group meetings.
