Message from the President
Happy New Year! I hope everyone is refreshed and excited for 2019. Here’s to the challenges and successes over the year.
We hosted an incredible session with Robyn Fehrman - director of programs, Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator at Duke University and founder, Mindful Type A, LLC - discussing Cultivating Resilience: Mindfulness to Recognize and Resist Burnout. What a wonderful opportunity to practice a meditative state and mindfulness recognition for focus! (Members, you can still sign up for our Deeper Dive next Thursday.)
Take a deep breathe...focus on your breathing and clear your mind...and focus...
Register now for our educational luncheon on February 5 with Lisa Freeman, CFRE and Susan Wilkes, Ph.D. discussing 21st Century Career Mapping: Pathways to a Fulfilling and Successful Career to explore how to chart your destination, think strategically about your career and identify alternative routes towards your goals. So many ideas!
Improv Time: Show Don’t Tell
We tell our story often. How often do we show it? “Show don’t tell is an effective part of storytelling,” writes Kelly Leonard with The Second City. Showing can transform individuals and organizations; this can unlock the creativity power in people and be a catalyst for a change to believe in. Showing creates a connection to something authentic and real; it allows us to open up to many stories of good and change. Show your story and mission at work and watch the good happen.
I’m thrilled to share 2019 with you!
P.S. Nominations for our 2019-2020 board of directors are now open. Consider a colleague or yourself to be part of our VAFRE leadership team!
