| Message from the President It’s a busy time of year! Of course, these days, it really feels like there is no quiet time of year, right? As we gear up for what is the busiest time of year for many development offices, I find that planning is key to making things go smoothly. Taking the time to write out your calendar, prioritize projects, assign specific responsibilities and create an accountability plan always turns out to be time well spent. In a conversation with one of my colleagues, we were discussing the value of accountability and the idea of having accountability “partners” - finding someone to connect with on a regular basis and share progress towards goals. If you don’t already have an accountability system or partner, what a neat opportunity to network at the next VAFRE event you attend. Perhaps you can connect with a peer and support and celebrate one another throughout the busy year-end season. As composer Leonard Bernstein once said, “To achieve great things, two things are needed; a plan and not quite enough time.” Let’s put a plan into action now and, as we all well know, it will feel like we don’t have quite enough time before the calendar year comes to a close! I wish you the best in all of the preparations that go into making your year end fundraising season a success!
