Message from the President
|

Season's Greetings! What an epic year? We have been through so many changes this year and we made it through. I hope you have navigated these changes and are ready to close the year with a non-profit bang.
Remember to take time out for yourself this holiday. Rest, relax and enjoy.
Fundraising Tip of the Month: Communicate with Donors Communication is essential for creating lasting relationships. Getting people to stay with you over the years isn’t easy, but your organization needs them more than they need you. And that means you need to find ways to connect with your donors and show them how important they are. One startling statistic is that most people only donate to a cause once, so you need to find reasons for them to come back. Offer donors the opportunity to volunteer with your organization. You know you can always use the help, plus they will see the value of your nonprofit firsthand and might be inclined to spread the word about your cause.
See you at our next virtual lunch-in on January 5th as we learn how to Stress Less in 2021.
Sincerely,
Robinette
Robinette Tiller

Virtual vs. Live Events - Member Poll Results
In
November, the VAFRE Board of Directors polled the membership regarding their
comfort level with the idea of live events in the first half of 2021. It was
very clear that our members were not comfortable with the idea of in-person
meetings in the first quarter, but there is a little more optimism about events
in the second quarter: especially outdoor events.
Of
97 VAFRE members responding, 69 responded that they would not attend an
in-person luncheon in the first quarter of 2021; 12 responded that they would
attend; and 16 would attend only if a vaccine were widely available. When asked
about the possibility of attending an in-person event without lunches in the
second quarter, 35 members said they would attend if it was an outdoor event;
25 would attend if a vaccine is widely available; 21 would attend regardless of
location or vaccine availability, while 16 said they would not be comfortable
attending.
In
light of these results and the current situation with the pandemic, the Board
has voted to hold all of our regular monthly programs as virtual through June.
We will hope to schedule some in-person member events outside once we get to
spring, but we will continue to monitor the situation and plan to poll the members
again in early spring.
