Don't Forget to Sign Up: VAFRE Affinity Groups

One of the greatest things about our Association is the opportunity to meet and network with fellow fundraisers in our region. VAFRE Affinity Groups are discussion forums and listservs targeted to specific interests within the fundraising field. Choose to join one or more groups that most interest you or relate to your career. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions from members, share new ideas and best practices, meet members in your field or connect to those you've already met, and create virtual meet-ups.

Members, log in and select from groups dedicate to Annual Funds, Grant Writing & Reporting, Small Shop Fundraising and more.

      President's Message

Hello everyone and welcome to a new year with VAFRE! We have a lot of exciting events planned this year, but first I would like to start this VAFRE season off with a note of gratitude.

To begin, I cannot begin to express my gratitude to our Immediate Past President Robinette Tiller for her rock solid, courageous, and thoughtful leadership throughout this last very difficult year. You really embody what every fundraising professional should aspire to be more like in every way.

Secondly, I would like to thank all of you as members new and old for being part of the VAFRE family. When I took over as the Executive Director and sole fundraiser for my organization, I felt somewhat isolated and unsure of my fundraising decisions. Thanks to some very kind guidance of an esteemed VAFRE member, I soon met development professionals of every type. Not only did these professionals become my colleagues, they also became my friends. Without our amazing members, VAFRE would not be the organization that it is today, and I thank you one and all for choosing to be part of VAFRE.

To kick off this year's luncheon series, we have the exceptional Randy Howard returning to inform and entertain VAFRE about the relationship between accounting and fundraising.  Having the pleasure of hearing Randy speak a number of times, he will not only impart you with some valuable knowledge, but I can say without a doubt that you will burst out laughing more than once.  I hope you are able to join us for this great event, either in-person or virtually.

Once again, I thank you for being part of VAFRE this year.  As always, we welcome your insights, feedback, and opinions, as we continue to strive to provide you with the best professional development programs in a safe and inclusive manner.

      See you all soon.

      David Sams
      2021-2022 VAFRE President

Register for P3 Before September 15th

Now entering it's ninth year, P3 offers VAFRE members the opportunity for small groups (the Partners) to meet a minimum of four times with two highly experienced facilitators (the Leaders) between October and June.

The Professional Partnership Program encourages discussion on job-related concerns of greatest interest to each group as identified by the participant applications. Issues and topics for each session will be solicited in advance and facilitated by the Leaders.

Thanks to our Exclusive P3 Sponsor
