The VAFRE e-news

From the President

This is always my favorite time of the year to be in the Development profession. So many opportunities to reach out and thank those who have done so much for us. If you’re like me, these last few weeks have been a flurry of activity. End of year appeals, the joy of opening the mail, celebrating gifts, thanking donors, and just generally doing what you all do so well: Sharing the stories of the impact of our community’s generosity. While the weather outside has been frightful(ly warm), I hope that these last few weeks have been delightful (with maybe a nice surprise or two under the tree).

As the year draws to a close, I hope that every one of us has a chance to reflect on the year that was, celebrate the good, make plans for the new year, and most importantly…breathe.  We all tend to move at a breakneck pace this time of year, so be sure to allow just a couple of minutes each day for yourself. We are fortunate to be in an industry that helps our community realize its potential. I hope that you are as proud as I am of what we have all accomplished this year.  Thank you for the opportunity to be your colleague.  Warmest wishes to you and yours this holiday season.

Dan Stackhouse
