Important Statement on COVID Protocols

For the safety of all of our members and guests, VAFRE strongly encourages all individuals attending our programs in-person to be vaccinated. Virtual registration is available for those who are not vaccinated or who do not feel comfortable meeting in person.

Masks will be required for all participants and we will be practicing social distancing. In-person registration will be limited to 40 individuals. Box lunches will be available for in-person registrants at the end of the program to eat on-site or take with you.

Our Program

Five years ago, The Mariner's Museum Team simultaneously adopted a servant leadership approach to its Mission and operations and a donor-centric approach to its fundraising efforts. The alignment between approaches has transformed the institution and dramatically increased contributed revenue. This session will explore The Mariner's experience in navigating the challenges and opportunities that presented themselves along the way.

Approved for 1 hour of CFRE credit.

Our Presenter

Howard H. Hoege III has served as the President and CEO of The Mariners’ Museum and Park since 2016. After graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1994, Howard served as an infantry officer and later a JAG officer in the Army. During his service, Howard graduated from U.S. Army’s Ranger School in 1995 and served with the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) in Iraq from 2003-2004. After he left military service in 2008, Howard served as an investigative Counsel on the Senate Armed Services Committee, an Assistant Dean at the University of Virginia’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, and ultimately founded a leadership and strategy consulting firm before joining the Mariners’ Museum team.
