Letter from the President

Dear Friends and Colleagues, A big THANK YOU to our friends at Warren Whitney for not only supporting VAFRE as an annual sponsor, but also for partnering with us for our September 10th lunch program to present the findings from both of our organization’s compensation survey results. Will Glasco and Esther Nand did a wonderful job walking us through the data and engaging with VAFRE members and guests in attendance. You can log in now to check out the survey results on the VAFRE website. If you weren’t able to attend the session, don’t be afraid to share your thoughts with us! And speaking of guests, I have had the pleasure of meeting several of our latest guests and newest members, most recently at our Mix 'N Mingle on September 12 (pictured below), organized by the VAFRE Membership Committee. Over café con leches, arepas, and guava palitos, there was no shortage of conversation at Café y Sabor Restaurante. We look forward to continuing to welcome those who are just dipping their toes into all of the fantastic networking opportunities that VAFRE has to offer! If you’re enjoying your VAFRE membership and would like to deepen your involvement, one of the best ways to do that is to join a committee (communications, membership, community engagement, and programs). Participating behind the scenes is a great way to get to know your VAFRE peers and gain valuable volunteer experience. Email Mary Kidd, VAFRE’s administrator, to learn more, and she’ll be happy to get you connected. Submit Your Proposal!

You are invited to propose a program for VAFRE’s monthly luncheon sessions. Luncheons are held in person in Richmond, with a hybrid option. Submissions are open to the public, regardless of membership status, and will be accepted on a rolling basis.

VAFRE’s mission is to equip fundraising professionals with the expertise, strategies, and networks to deliver lasting impact for an inclusive philanthropic community. Our goal for monthly meetings is to provide innovative and relevant programming that will appeal to members across all experience levels and fundraising disciplines. VAFRE is committed to becoming a more equitable organization by supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and access initiatives.

In accordance with VAFRE’s values, we are offering an honorarium for all luncheon speakers. This policy is to ensure we continue to select a diverse array of speakers and avoid any bias or discrimination that favors presenters from more privileged backgrounds. We believe presenters should be compensated equally, regardless of their position, personal traits or prominence.

P3 Kickoff and Graduation Celebration - October 3

Join your P3 colleagues on Thursday, October 3, as we kick off the twelfth year of the program and celebrate the accomplishments of last year's class!

There will be a welcome from the VAFRE Board and a chance to meet some of our P3 alumni.

Last year's teams will be celebrated with their "graduation," and this year's teams will be introduced.

The Professional Partnership Kickoff Meeting and Graduation Celebration will be held in-person from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Robins Auditorium at St. Joseph's Villa located at 8000 Brook Road, Richmond. Register today.
