Join us for for VAFRE’s national speaker workshop with Karin Cox, co-founder of Hartsook. The session, on Tuesday, March 8h at the University of Richmond’s Jepson Alumni Center, will focus on Sustainable Fundraising.

Steady and robust fundraising is the backbone of a healthy nonprofit organization. However, fundraising has natural highs and lows, and nonprofit leadership ebbs and flows. The challenge for fundraising professionals and nonprofit leadership is sustaining funding to ensure the needs are met and the mission is fulfilled. But what do you do when an organization is not meeting its full potential, despite having a compelling mission? How does earned revenue affect a strategic, sustainable fundraising plan?

Participants will learn ideas to strengthen and sustain fundraising to meet the organization’s evolving needs while retaining, growing and diversifying the donor base. They will learn how to share the importance of being financially sustainable as an organization without diminishing the value and fundamental role of donors. A well-conceived comprehensive fundraising plan that coordinates all aspects of fundraising, including direct response and online giving, grants and sponsorships, special events, major and estate gifts, and communications will help strengthen and sustain fundraising. This session will provide “next move” action steps and “start tomorrow” strategies that will serve as the foundation of a plan while building donor loyalty, engaging fundraising leadership and nurturing an institutional culture of philanthropy.

Our Speaker

Karin Cox is co-founder of Hartsook Companies where she specializes in major gift and campaign fundraising to help educational, arts, health and human services nonprofit organizations of every size and scope raise millions of dollars. She has served in leadership roles in both the nonprofit and business sectors. A frequent presenter at national, regional and local conferences and events, Karin is the author of various articles and a book, Fundraising Leadership: The Essential Guide for Nonprofit Board Members Who Want to Make a Lasting Difference. She developed the widely adopted Cox Grid, which was first presented in her “Fundraising Events” chapter in Fundraising Practices and Principles, the definitive fundraising text published by Jossey-Bass. Karin has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, is Chief Academic Officer of Hartsook Institutes and is a faculty member of Hartsook Institute at Avila University.

Cost to Attend

 

$60 for members (no additional fee for Season Pass holders), $85 for the first nonmember guest, and $75 for additional guests.

Please note there is a special student/intern fee of $30 for full-time students and interns working at a nonprofit organization.

Fees support program costs and administration. Registrations should be received no later than Thursday, March 3rd.

Cancellation Policy

 

Credits for a future meeting or refunds will be given if notification of cancellation is received at VAFRE’s office prior to noon on the Thursday before a regular Tuesday meeting. If cancellation is received after the Thursday before a regular Tuesday meeting, credits and refunds will be given at the discretion of the Management Company based on the number of late registrations received. In the event of illness or an emergency, credits or refunds may be granted at the discretion of the Management Company.
