Our Program

The average fundraiser is inundated with data in today's digital world: annual appeals, peer-to-peer, direct mail, event-based fundraising, to name a few. How can gift officers and development managers prioritize the right people to reach out to at the right time? Join VAFRE on June 7th as we welcome Alan Wei of Humanitru to help us understand how best to use our available data to set some priorities.

Advances in open APIs allow for integrations with a wider variety of engagement channels than ever before (email marketing, volunteer platforms, event registration, donation landing pages, etc.) allowing fundraisers to deepen their understanding of the different facets of support their audience has. Combining these advances with the adoption of a "recency-bias" to help prioritize (and importantly, also de-prioritize) who to reach out to, can position you to maximize efficiency with limited resources.

Specifics covered include:

  • current engagement channels and tools to consider tracking or integrating,
  • different models of evaluating recency-bias to form a prioritization process, and
  • how to set up monitoring systems to leverage engagement points in real-time.
Approved for 1 hour of CFRE credit.

Our Presenter

Alan Wei, Co-Founder and CEO, Humanitru

Alan Wei is a graduate of the University of Virginia with degrees in Computer Science and Social Entrepreneurship, having founded Humanitru after being frustrated with the technology options nonprofits had available to manage fundraising. After writing thousands of lines of code, building integrations with almost every nonprofit tech tool out there, and creating analytical models digesting millions of data points around supporter behavior, he is convinced that the answer to modern fundraising and effective donor engagement lies in data: eliminating information silos, segmenting audience profiles, automating donor prospecting, all of which creates a solid bedrock for effective fundraising.

He is proud to work with nonprofits of all sizes across multiple sectors to find opportunity within their data and their audiences and bring modern technology to the modern nonprofit.

Important Statement on COVID Protocols

For the safety of all of our members and guests, VAFRE strongly encourages all individuals attending our programs in-person to be vaccinated. Virtual registration is available for those who are not vaccinated or who do not feel comfortable meeting in person.

In-person registration will not be limited. Masks are optional, but are encouraged. Box lunches will be available for in-person registrants at the end of the program to eat on-site or take with you.

Our Schedule

  • 11:30 a.m. In-person Registration begins
  • 12 p.m. Program begins
  • 1:15 p.m. Adjourn

Registration Fees

  • In-person registration is $20 for members ($0 for those with a Season Pass), $25 for nonmembers who work at a member organization, and $30 for guests. All in-person registrants should select their meal during the registration process.
  • Virtual registration is $8 for members, $11 for nonmembers who work at a member organization and $15 for nonmembers. The virtual registration fees help support the technology costs associated with offering a hybrid event.

If you are not a VAFRE member and do nor work in the office of a VAFRE member, consider becoming a member of VAFRE in order to access reduced registration fees.
