| From the PresidentDear Friends and Colleagues, Recently at the VFRI Conference in Richmond, I was randomly asked to stand up and sing in front of 250 people. Well, that went about as well as you'd expect at 9 in the morning on a Wednesday! My embarrassment aside, it was wonderful seeing everyone at the VAFRE exhibitor table. Over the course of two days, we gave out prizes, shared the great benefits of being a VAFRE member and promoted upcoming events. It's been a busy summer! Many thanks to KJ Delgado and Jennifer Whiteside of the Membership Committee for hosting a Mix and Mingle at Maple Street Biscuit Company in Short Pump last week. They had a great turnout, and members discussed their challenges at work and ideas for VAFRE. Beyond the monthly luncheons, it's wonderful for VAFRE members to convene socially a few times a year. Speaking of programs, September's is a standout and a great opportunity. In partnership with AFP Central Virginia Chapter, learn more about the CFRE exam from an all-star panel. Jessica Cocciolone, Amanda Kennedy and Danielle Ripperton will take you through tips and tricks for the exam and how to make the case to employers about helping with exam costs. Keep in mind this event begins at 9 a.m., so it’s a change from our luncheons, but still at the Virginia War Memorial. Many thanks to our friends at AFP for working with us on this special program. See you in September! And I promise not to sing this time, Will Glasco ___________________________________ Pictured above: VAFRE members gathered for a Mix and Mingle on August 10th at the Maple Street Biscuit Company in Short Pump. ___________________________________ Joint Program with AFP Looks at CFREHave you ever wondered about the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) credential and exam, and whether or not it’s right for you? Join this program to learn from CFRE certified fundraising professionals and AFP Master Trainers as they cover topics about the CFRE, including how the certification can help your career, how to make a case to your employer to cover the costs of the exam, and tips and tricks to getting started on the application and studying for the exam. This session will leave plenty of time for questions at the end, so come prepared to ask yours! Approved for 1 hour of CFRE credit. For complete details or to register, click here for the in-person program or click here for the virtual program. ___________________________________ A New VAFRE Job Posting! Are you comfortable facilitating meetings on Zoom? Do you like to attend VAFRE's monthly programs? Have we got the job for you! The Board of Directors has approved a request from the Programs Committee to offer a complimentary one-year membership as well as a complimentary registration to all of our monthly programs for one individual who will act as our technical support/in-room host for the virtual portion of our hybrid programs. Current and prospective members are eligible for this offer.
