Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I wanted to thank our friends at AFP Central Virginia Chapter again for partnering on this month’s program at the Virginia War Memorial! I personally learned a great deal about preparing for the CFRE, and the live practice quiz was a lot of fun. Congrats to Nick Sollog for getting 9 out of 10 questions right!

We really appreciate all the submissions from VAFRE members for possible program topics next year. The fantastic Programs Committee are busy planning 2024’s calendar, and if you have ideas for program content and would like to present, it’s not too late! Check out the guidelines and submit your ideas here.

As is the case at our jobs, committee work is so important to the success of an organization. VAFRE is no exception. We’re seeking folks who’d like to participate in VAFRE committees, including membership, programs, community engagement and communications. It’s a great way to network with your VAFRE peers, and in fact, that’s how I got my start with VAFRE-  meeting up with the membership committee.

Along those lines, we’re also recruiting volunteers who could help day-of with next year’s Awards Ceremony in May. It might feel like a long way out, but it’ll be here before we know it! If you’re interested in committee service or helping with awards, let Mary Kidd know and she’ll get you connected.

VAFRE Seeks Committee Volunteers

Have you been thinking about becoming more engaged with VAFRE? Now's your chance!

As you know, much of the work of any nonprofit organization is done by volunteers, and VAFRE is no different. Our Committees (Awards Event, Communications, Community Engagement, Membership and Programs) could use some additional help. We'd also love to engage a few members who would be interested in acting as an Ambassador for new VAFRE members, to help them become more familiar with the organization, meet a few people and, perhaps, join a committee themselves.

October 1 CFRE Application Deadline is Nearly Here

The final 2023 Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) application deadline is quickly approaching.

If it’s your goal to become a CFRE in 2023, plan to submit your application by October 1.

Have use-it-or-lose-it professional development funds expiring at the end of the year? Speak to your boss now about putting them towards your CFRE application fee.
